This funding is designated for implementing high-quality instructional materials, enhancing educational outcomes in these Title I schools. Notably, CC Hardy Elementary had previously received similar funding, ensuring equitable support across the district.
The board also approved contracts for E-Rate funding, which provides an 80% discount on fiber services and infrastructure hardware. Skyrider Communications and Optimum were selected to provide fiber connectivity services for the new transportation center and Elementary School No. 7, with a total district financial obligation of approximately $14,034.75.
In further efforts to improve connectivity, the board approved contracts for E-Rate Category 2 hardware, totaling $361,978.14. This includes essential infrastructure upgrades such as switches and access points, with the district's financial responsibility set at $72,395.63.
Lastly, the board considered a contract with Contigo Ed, Inc. for comprehensive data analysis aimed at improving College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) outcomes. Funded in part by the Dell Foundation, the district's cost for this initiative will be significantly reduced to just under $20,000.
These decisions reflect Willis ISD's commitment to enhancing educational quality and infrastructure, ensuring that students receive the resources they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world. The board's proactive approach in securing grants and contracts positions the district for continued growth and improvement in the coming years.
