Framingham Council names Callahan Center room after community leader Mark Goldman

Goldman, who passed away in September 2021 at the age of 74, was a prominent figure in the community. He served as president of the Friends of the Callahan Center and vice chair of the Framingham Council on Aging, advocating tirelessly for senior citizens and enhancing the programs at the Callahan Center. His commitment to public service spanned decades, beginning with his leadership in youth sports, where he played a crucial role in establishing the Field of Dreams soccer complex.

The mayor's heartfelt request detailed Goldman’s extensive contributions, including his efforts to improve recreational opportunities for children and his later focus on enriching the lives of seniors. Notably, he was instrumental in supporting the continuing connections program for seniors with early-stage Alzheimer's disease, showcasing his dedication even during personal health struggles.

Councilor Canada and Councilor Leon Bruno expressed their support for the motion, emphasizing the importance of recognizing Goldman’s contributions. Clyde Daughton, a member of the Council on Aging, also spoke in favor of the tribute, reflecting on Goldman’s dedication to the senior community.
