Brandon's Bistro relocates to City Hall Promenade creating 50 local jobs

In a vibrant meeting at Miramar City Hall, city officials gathered to discuss an exciting new development that promises to enhance the local dining scene and create jobs. The proposed relocation of Brandon's Bistro, a popular restaurant currently based in Pembroke Pines, aims to establish a new location at 11755 City Hall Promenade. This move is expected to generate 50 new jobs, with a strong emphasis on hiring locally.

The proposed site, described as a "shell space" with no existing floors or walls, will be transformed into a dining destination featuring an artistic ambiance and a menu crafted by Executive Chef Gerald Harvey. The restaurant plans to offer a gourmet experience with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, alongside a bar featuring exclusive spirits crafted by a mixologist. The anticipated layout includes spacious interiors and an open-air patio, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

City officials outlined the terms of the lease, which includes a base rent of $152,000 annually, with a 3% increase each year. A tenant improvements allowance of $4 per square foot has been negotiated, totaling a maximum of $325,000 to assist with the build-out costs. The lease is set for a standard term of 10 years, with two additional five-year renewal options and a 12-month grace period for the tenant to establish operations.

Commissioners expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting the restaurant's popularity and the potential to revitalize the area, which has seen vacancies for too long. Commissioner Colburn highlighted the importance of filling these spaces to attract more visitors and enhance the civic center's appeal.

However, some concerns were raised regarding the challenges of the location, particularly around parking and utility setup. Commissioner Chambers shared insights into the building's history, emphasizing the need for careful planning to avoid past mistakes that had led to financial burdens for the city.

As the meeting concluded, the city manager recommended approval of the lease, signaling a hopeful step forward for both the restaurant and the community.
