City Council sets June 28 for 2025 fireworks show amid location challenges

The New Carlisle City Council made significant strides during their January 21st meeting, particularly in planning for the upcoming 2025 fireworks display. Council members unanimously agreed to set the date for June 28, 2025, the Saturday before the Fourth of July, to maximize attendance and ensure a vibrant show.

Vice Mayor Eggleston emphasized the importance of this timing, noting that holding the event on the Fourth could lead to diminished crowds due to competing displays. The council is now tasked with securing a suitable launch location, as previous sites may no longer be viable due to new housing developments. Discussions included potential alternatives, such as a field near the waterworks or other open areas, but concerns about safety distances and parking logistics were raised.

Councilman Vaughn highlighted the urgency of finalizing a location, given that construction permits for new homes are already being processed. The council is committed to exploring all options to ensure the fireworks can proceed as planned, with a backup plan in place should suitable sites not be found.

In addition to the fireworks planning, the council addressed other matters, including upcoming intergovernmental meetings and financial disclosures. The next meeting is scheduled for March 31, where catering options will also be discussed.
