The City Council of Ashland, Ohio, celebrated the holiday spirit during its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting event on December 8, 2024. The festivities brought together community members, local businesses, and families, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with joy and nostalgia.

The parade featured a variety of floats, including one from Simonson Construction Services, which showcased a beautifully decorated sleigh and reindeer, capturing the essence of Christmas. The Ashland High School marching band and the Sweeties dance team also participated, highlighting the talents of local students who contribute to community events throughout the year.

A special moment of the evening was the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, who made their grand entrance in style, much to the delight of children and families gathered along the parade route. The event not only marked the beginning of the holiday season but also provided an opportunity for residents to engage with Santa, with plans for additional meet-and-greet sessions throughout December.

The parade was organized by a dedicated team from Ashland Main Street, consisting of seven women who coordinated the event with the help of city employees and local law enforcement. Their efforts ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

As the parade concluded, the community gathered for the official lighting of the 40-foot tall Majestic Pine Christmas tree, a symbol of unity and celebration for the residents of Ashland. The event underscored the importance of community spirit and the joy of coming together during the holiday season, setting a festive tone for the weeks ahead.
