Mayor announces Tractor Supply grand opening and updates on community projects

The City Council of Columbiana, Ohio, convened on January 7, 2025, to discuss several key updates and initiatives impacting the community. Among the highlights was an update on the Firestone Park Senior Courts, specifically regarding the stormwater management plan, which is expected to be finalized soon.

The council also celebrated the upcoming grand opening of Tractor Supply, scheduled for January 11, 2025, following a soft opening earlier in the month. A ribbon-cutting ceremony, organized by the local chamber, is set for 10 a.m. on that day.

In personnel matters, the council addressed appointments to the Board of Zoning Appeals, recommending the renewal of passionate members who have served for an extended period.

The meeting also covered various departmental updates. The electric department reported on recent outages caused by tree work, while the park and cemetery department began dismantling the Joy of Christmas light show, which was deemed a success this year, attracting visitors and supporting local businesses. The Columbiana Tourism Bureau, which operates the event, noted that the light show continues to foster community engagement and economic activity.

Additionally, the water department is progressing on the Crestview water line project, and the wastewater department is working on the Stanton Avenue project, which has caused some traffic disruptions. The council expressed gratitude for the community's patience during these ongoing projects.

Looking ahead, the mayor announced plans for a "State of the City" address at the next council meeting, where achievements from the past year and future projects for 2025 will be discussed. This meeting promises to highlight significant developments, including completed ODOT projects and ongoing infrastructure improvements.
