Beavercreek Parks Department plans summer camp expansion and community programs for 2025

The Beavercreek Parks Board is gearing up for an exciting 2025, with plans to expand summer camp offerings and enhance community engagement through new programs and events. During the recent meeting, board members discussed the growing demand for recreational activities, particularly the need for an additional week of summer camp to accommodate families. This decision comes as Beavercreek Schools will have an extra week of summer break, allowing the Parks Board to meet community needs without incurring additional costs.

In addition to expanding summer camp, the board aims to introduce three new engaging programs in partnership with local businesses, building on the success of past events like the "Pints and Paint" collaboration with Southern Ohio Brewing. A concert night targeting young adults and families is also in the works, addressing a demographic that often feels overlooked in community programming.

Accessibility improvements are a priority, with plans to implement ADA enhancements at community events, ensuring inclusivity for all residents. The board is also preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the senior center, marking two decades of service to the community.

However, the board faces challenges following the recent failure of a park levy, which would have funded additional staff and capital projects. As a result, the 2025 budget will see a reduction of $250,000 in capital spending, deferring essential equipment replacements and playground upgrades. Despite these setbacks, staffing levels will remain stable, and the board is committed to finding creative solutions to meet the community's growing demands.

Looking ahead, the Parks Board plans to meet with city council in January to discuss potential funding options, including the possibility of placing another park levy on the ballot. The board's proactive approach aims to ensure that Beavercreek's parks and recreational services continue to thrive, fostering a vibrant community for all residents.
