In a heartwarming ceremony at Harmon Middle School, two outstanding eighth graders, Cade Bohannon and Cameron Van Dyke, were honored as the Rotary Students of the Month during the Aurora City School District's October Board Meeting. The recognition, a first for the school this year, highlighted the students' exemplary character and contributions to their school community.
As the meeting unfolded, Mr. Abramovich, the assistant principal, expressed pride in the swift recognition from staff, who unanimously nominated Cade and Cameron for their leadership and role model qualities. "They are the face of the school," he remarked, setting a tone of celebration and community spirit.
Cade Bohannon took the stage first, sharing his gratitude for the award and acknowledging his family’s support. He spoke passionately about his love for math, his participation in sports like football and track, and his aspirations to play Division 1 baseball or pursue a career in architecture. Following Cade, Cameron Van Dyke expressed his appreciation for his family and the Rotary Club's impact on the community. He emphasized the importance of service and leadership, drawing from his experiences as a Girl Scout and a volleyball team captain. Cameron's commitment to community service was evident as he recounted organizing a successful clothing drive, showcasing his dedication to helping others.
The ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of these young leaders but also reinforced the values of service and community that the Rotary Club embodies.
