The Twinsburg Board of Education meeting on March 5, 2025, highlighted a series of impactful events celebrating Black History Month and Women's History Month, showcasing the district's commitment to diversity and student engagement.
Assistant Principal Mr. Veil opened the meeting by praising the efforts of high school and middle school students who participated in various activities throughout February. Notably, the electric orchestra from RBC and the high school jazz band provided students with unique musical experiences, connecting the history of jazz to African American culture. "It was my first time seeing it, and it is a wonderful opportunity," Veil remarked, encouraging younger students to aspire to join these programs.

Subscribe for Free Additionally, the high school’s Teacher of the Year, Miss Pickney, shared her inspiring life story with students, while seven high school volunteers conducted a reading initiative across 37 classrooms, fostering a love for literature among younger peers. "Our kids had great experiences as a result," Veil noted, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made these events possible.
As the meeting transitioned to Women's History Month, sixth grader Amira Thriton and fifth grader Amwayla Horn introduced a presentation honoring the all-female Board of Education and district leadership. They emphasized the importance of female role models in shaping future generations, stating, "Their dedication, resilience, and collective efforts serve as a powerful example of how women in leadership positions can create lasting change."
The girls group at Dodge Intermediate School was also recognized for its role in empowering young women, fostering confidence, and encouraging teamwork. The group presented handwritten inspirational notes to the board members, reinforcing their commitment to making a positive impact within the school community.
