Los Alamos Chamber boasts 300 members and seeks school event collaboration

Los Alamos County is set to enhance its community engagement and recreational infrastructure following key discussions during the recent County Council meeting on March 11, 2025. A notable highlight was the approval of a resolution to apply for funding assistance from the New Mexico Department of Transportation. This funding will support the Pinon School Trail Connection Project, aimed at improving access to recreational trails for residents and visitors alike.

During the meeting, it was revealed that the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce boasts nearly 300 members, with approximately 85% based in the county. This figure reflects a strong community engagement, especially when compared to larger communities with fewer chamber members. The Chamber's leadership emphasized the importance of collaboration with local businesses and the potential for growth in partnerships, particularly with public schools for sporting events.

The council also addressed a revision in the consent agenda concerning the planning and zoning board nominations, ensuring compliance with party affiliation requirements. The revised nominations for board members Karen Easton and Rebecca White were unanimously approved by the council.
