District reports 39% increase in college enrollment from class of 2023

Cincinnati Public Schools is celebrating a significant boost in college enrollment rates, with a remarkable 39% increase in the number of students matriculating to college from the class of 2023. This surge, from 640 to 959 students, reflects the district's ongoing commitment to fostering a college-going culture among its students.

During the recent CPS Board Business Meeting, a passionate report highlighted the district's efforts to support students and families, particularly those with mixed residency status, in completing their FAFSA applications. The district saw an 11% increase in FAFSA completion this year, thanks to collaborative initiatives, including dedicated FAFSA nights aimed at guiding families through the financial aid process.

Despite the positive trends, the district acknowledges the need to focus on retention rates, as enrolling in college is just the first step. Currently, 56% of students are enrolled in college programs, with a retention rate of 74%. Board members expressed their appreciation for the progress made, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this upward trajectory.
