Cincinnati Public Schools secures $1.3M grant for adult education services

Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) is set to enhance its adult education programs, thanks to a significant grant of $1,326,566 awarded through a competitive process by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. This funding will allow CPS to continue offering free day and evening classes aimed at helping adults improve their English language skills and gain a better understanding of American culture and government.

During a recent board meeting, officials emphasized the importance of adult education in fostering community growth. They highlighted that when adults learn, entire communities flourish. The program, known as Aspire, has a long history dating back to the 1960s and has evolved through various names, including ABLE and ABE. The focus has always been on providing empathetic and supportive educational services to individuals who may have faced challenges in their previous educational experiences.
