A new veterinary clinic is set to open in Murphy, Texas, but it comes with some unique challenges. CityVet, a franchise with a 25-year history in Texas, is planning to establish a facility strictly for medical services, with no overnight boarding or daycare options due to space limitations. Chris Lee, Senior Vice President of Real Estate Construction for CityVet, emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for pets, especially given the clinic's proximity to busy restaurants.
During the recent Planning and Zoning meeting, Lee addressed concerns about managing animal behavior in a bustling area. He assured the commission that the clinic would implement sound attenuation and odor control measures to minimize disruptions to neighboring businesses. "We take sound attenuation and odor control very seriously," Lee stated, highlighting their commitment to maintaining a pleasant atmosphere for both pets and patrons.
The clinic's design will include protocols for safely managing animals in an urban setting, with plans for designated areas for pets to relieve themselves. Lee noted that CityVet has successfully operated in similar environments across multiple states, ensuring a positive coexistence with surrounding establishments.
As the project moves forward, CityVet aims to foster community ties, with Lee himself being a Murphy resident. The clinic is expected to enhance local veterinary services while addressing the logistical challenges of operating in a densely populated area. The commission's approval will pave the way for CityVet to contribute to the community's growing needs for pet care.
