Bayonne honors Daniel Harrington for heroic beach rescue of drowning woman

Bayonne City Council honored local hero Daniel J. Harrington Jr. during its recent meeting on March 25, 2025, recognizing his extraordinary act of bravery in a life-saving rescue. Harrington, a Bayonne resident and business owner, was awarded commendations from both the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the city council for his courageous actions in September 2021, when he risked his life to save a woman caught in dangerous riptides at Lava Lehi Beach.

The council members praised Harrington for his selflessness and valor, highlighting the significance of his actions that not only saved a life but also served as an inspiring example of community spirit.
