The mayor also reported a significant reduction in 911 call response times and the removal of over 320 illegal firearms from the streets last year.

In a proactive approach to public safety, the city is investing in new technology to monitor illegal ATV activity, addressing long-standing complaints from residents. The mayor underscored the importance of collaboration, revealing the establishment of an Office of Violence Prevention that coordinates efforts across various sectors, including healthcare and community services. This initiative aims to intervene early with victims of violence, providing them with necessary support to break cycles of trauma.

Despite challenges posed by federal funding cuts, Mayor Arunan assured residents that the city would continue to support vital programs, emphasizing Hartford’s success in reducing shootings to the lowest levels in two decades. “If they want to see what actually works, come here to the city of Hartford because we're making it work,” he urged, calling for recognition of local efforts in public safety.
