The West Bend Parks & Recreation Commission meeting on February 23, 2024, highlighted an exciting lineup of community events aimed at enhancing local engagement and enjoyment in the city’s parks. With over 56 events planned for the year, the commission is focused on fostering community spirit and providing recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.
The first event on the calendar is Bachfest, scheduled for this Saturday at Regner Park, organized by the city itself. Following closely is the Easter Egg Hunt on March 23, co-hosted with the Lions Club, which promises to be a delightful experience for families in the Regner Park entertainment area.
In April, the commission will host a Kids' Fishing Clinic on the 13th, offering a free opportunity for youth to learn fishing skills at the park's fish pond. Additionally, a Spring Cleanup event on April 20, organized by Roots and Branches, will mobilize volunteers to clean up 1,300 acres of parkland, directly benefiting the community's green spaces.
May brings a series of popular events, including the Baird Shred event on the 9th, which helps residents securely dispose of documents, and the Lac La Ranne Wildflower Sale on Mother's Day weekend, a successful fundraiser for local activities. The month will also feature a fun run with Silverbrook Intermediate School on May 29, showcasing community involvement in health and fitness.
A new highlight this year is the Regner Park Beach Beer Garden, set for May 30 and June 1. This event, organized by the Gears organization and the recreation division, aims to create a relaxed atmosphere with music, food, and beverages. Plans include a pickleball tournament and a temporary disc golf course, making it a unique addition to the summer calendar.
These events not only provide entertainment but also foster community connections and support local initiatives. The Parks & Recreation Commission is committed to enhancing the quality of life in West Bend, ensuring that residents have ample opportunities to engage with their parks and each other throughout the year.
