During a recent meeting, lawmakers rallied around a bill aimed at enhancing public access to city inspection reports and records, particularly in light of the tragic partial collapse of a Davenport apartment building in May 2023 that resulted in three fatalities and serious injuries.

The bill's introduction was fueled by ongoing frustrations over the city's withholding of crucial inspection reports related to the collapse, which have remained inaccessible to the public for nearly two years.
