Council approves Fogland Beach Sunset Series for June and July

The Tiverton Town Council convened on March 24, 2025, to discuss the upcoming Fogland Beach Sunset Series, a series of low-key musical events scheduled for June and August. The series will feature a steel drum player and two food trucks, aiming to provide a relaxed atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Council members emphasized that this event is distinct from the previously approved summer concert series at Volga Marsh, focusing instead on a more intimate setting at Fogland Beach. The proposed dates for the Sunset Series are June 24, July 8, July 15, July 22, August 5, August 12, and August 19, running from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Concerns regarding parking and beach capacity were raised during the meeting. Councilor Janek highlighted community worries about limited parking availability, especially given the beach's capacity, which is estimated to accommodate around 220 vehicles. The council assured residents that parking would be monitored, and measures would be taken to prevent overcrowding. Additionally, discussions included the need for adequate restroom facilities, with plans to provide extra porta-potties to accommodate visitors.

The council also addressed the importance of maintaining beach cleanliness during the events. They committed to ensuring that trash is properly managed, with cleanup efforts mirroring those of the successful concert series at Volga Marsh.

In response to community feedback, the council is exploring options for improving restroom facilities, acknowledging that current porta-potties may not meet residents' expectations for such a scenic location. They also assured that emergency vehicle access would remain unobstructed during the events.

As the council moves forward with planning, they aim to create a positive experience for attendees while being mindful of the beach's natural environment and the needs of local residents.
