City Council to review traffic calming study for Jeffrey Lynn and neighboring streets

Hilliard City Council is taking proactive steps to address traffic safety concerns following the proposed street connection of Jeffrey Lynn Drive to Hill Farm. During the March 24, 2025, meeting, council members discussed the potential increase in traffic volume and speed that could arise from this extension, particularly at the intersection of Cosgray, Jeffrey Lynn, and Hoffman Farms.

Recognizing the residents' concerns, the council revisited its traffic calming prioritization process. Previously, Jeffrey Lynn Drive was not ranked highly on the list of streets needing traffic calming measures. However, with the anticipated changes from the new street connection, the council decided to reassess its position. By adding points based on criteria such as speed and traffic volume, Jeffrey Lynn Drive's score increased significantly, moving it up several ranks in the prioritization list.

As a result, the council proposed conducting a neighborhood traffic calming study that will include Jeffrey Lynn Drive along with three other streets: Davidson Road, Hoffman Farm Drive, and School Way Drive. Davidson Road was identified as the most problematic street for traffic speed, while School Way Drive, which serves as an entry point to a local school, will also be evaluated due to its higher traffic volumes.

This initiative aims to ensure that the city can effectively manage the expected increase in traffic and enhance safety for residents. The council's decision reflects a commitment to addressing community concerns and prioritizing traffic safety as development progresses in Hilliard. Further studies will determine the best strategies to implement necessary traffic calming measures in these neighborhoods.
