City reveals plans for new aquatic center featuring advanced water attractions

The Marshall City Council meeting on March 25, 2025, highlighted significant developments regarding the new aquatic center, which promises to enhance recreational opportunities for residents. The proposed facility will feature a variety of pools and amenities designed to cater to families and individuals of all ages.

The centerpiece of the aquatic center will be a leisure lifestyle pool with a zero-depth entry, making it accessible for young children and those with mobility challenges. This pool will include shallow water amenities, basketball hoops, and above-ground spray features, ensuring a fun and safe environment for all users.

In addition to the leisure pool, the design includes a 10-foot-wide Leisure River, equipped with bubblers and a plunge area for a tube slide. This feature aims to provide a relaxing experience for visitors while also accommodating thrilling water activities.

The deep water pool will offer diving boards and has been designed with future expansions in mind. The council received favorable bids for the base project and several alternates, which could enhance the facility further. Among the proposed alternates are two exciting water slides—a fly time slide and a tower slide—along with a splash pad area featuring interactive spray features and shade structures.

The splash pad is particularly noteworthy as it will allow for extended use of the aquatic center during the shoulder seasons of spring and fall, even when lifeguards are not on duty. This addition aims to maximize community access to the facility throughout the year.
