Derby Council approves $7M senior center expansion to enhance community resources

The construction is set to begin in early April, pending council approval, with a total project cost estimated at $7,383,371. This includes a guaranteed maximum price contract with Hutton Construction, ensuring the project stays within budget. The city plans to purchase furnishings and appliances at discounted rates through established vendor contracts, further optimizing costs.

The council's discussions emphasized the importance of this project in aligning with Derby's Vision 2040 plan, which aims to support the needs of the senior population and enhance recreational facilities. With 99 parking stalls, including 10 ADA-compliant spaces, the new center is designed to be accessible and welcoming for all residents.
