Osborne High School's Fine Arts program celebrated a remarkable year during the recent School Board meeting on March 25, 2025, showcasing the achievements of its students in music and debate.
The evening began with choir director Shirley Grama announcing that three students from Osborne had been selected for the prestigious Allstate Virginia Choir, representing Manassas City in Richmond next month. This honor follows a rigorous audition process, with over 200 voices competing. The students recognized were Veil Abrego, Adrianna Willard, and Isaac Quintana, with the latter serving as an alternate.

Subscribe for Free Director Andrew Wassom highlighted the orchestra's success, noting that both the Symphonic Orchestra and the Honors Chamber Orchestra received superior ratings at their assessments. This achievement underscores the program's commitment to excellence in music education.
In a significant announcement, Wassom also reported that the Osborne High School Band program has once again earned the Program of Honor distinction from the Virginia Band Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA). This recognition is awarded to programs that demonstrate comprehensive quality, having achieved superior ratings in both marching and concert assessments. This marks the fourth time Osborne has received this honor, reflecting the hard work and dedication of the students and staff.
Additionally, the Osborne School of the Performing Arts will receive the Blue Ribbon Award from the Virginia Music Educators Association, recognizing the excellence of its band, choir, and orchestra performances. This prestigious award has been granted to the school for the third time in its history.
The meeting also celebrated the inaugural year of the school's speech and debate team, which achieved impressive results by winning awards in five out of six tournaments, including a regional championship. Coach Mark Whitley expressed pride in the team's accomplishments, highlighting their growth and success in their first year.
