During the City Commission meeting on March 24, 2025, the Winter Haven Women's Club presented an inspiring initiative aimed at honoring female veterans. Jane McGinnis, the club's president, along with committee member Kimberly Burr, detailed their ambitious "Flight of Honor" project, which seeks to raise $150,000 to transport 172 female veterans from Florida to Washington, D.C., on March 11, 2026.
The project not only focuses on funding the flights and accommodations for the veterans and their guardians but also includes a creative component. The Women's Club plans to publish a book titled "Florida is Golden, Richness in Nature," showcasing the natural beauty of the area. Proceeds from the book sales will contribute to the Flight of Honor project, further supporting the veterans.
