\"Path to the stars is no longer limited to nations alone. Firefly is building the road to the next frontier, 1 mission and 1 dream at a time,\" Smith said, describing Firefly’s Blue Ghost mission and the company’s ties to Cedar Park. Smith and other staff described ongoing work to organize a Central Texas Spaceport Development Corporation, a nonprofit vehicle that would coordinate public and private partners across counties to promote space-sector investment, recruit talent and help secure state and federal infrastructure funding. Smith said Arthur presented the spaceport concept recently to the Williamson County commissioners and is meeting with Burnett County officials as part of the organizing effort.

Arthur, an economic development staff presenter, said the city’s project pipeline contains about 231 active projects. \"Currently, we have, about 231 projects, in our pipeline,\" Arthur said, and he told the board the city is preparing to support more advanced-manufacturing, semiconductor and AI recruitment.

Staff also announced a new Plug and Play semiconductor vertical hosted in Cedar Park, an event attended by company representatives including AMD, Cirrus Logic, NXP and Applied Materials, intended to connect local startups with large corporate partners and support future recruitment.

Scott Smith told the board the department offered and extended a hiring offer to Victoria Dunlap for the open economic development manager post. Dunlap, who was described in materials as the director of talent and workforce development for Opportunity Austin and a Cedar Park native, is scheduled to begin March 31.

Both presenters emphasized workforce and reskilling as central to Cedar Park’s strategy. “At a high level, here's your type a budget. Revenues are $8,900,000. Of that, $8.6 million is sales tax. Expenses are budgeted at $7,600,000,” Diaz said. He reported sales-tax receipts were up 8.8% relative to budget through the quarter and that overall revenues were “trending about 5% above budget.”

Diaz said the city had a particularly strong December but noted collections dipped in January and that the board would see that change reflected at the next update. He also explained why several expense categories appear fully spent: debt service, staff support and the e-center are transferred at the start of the fiscal year, which is why those lines sit at 100% early in the year.
