Richfield students perform Pledge of Allegiance in American Sign Language

The Revere Board of Education meeting held on December 10, 2024, began with an uplifting presentation from Richfield Principal Mrs. Kieser, who expressed pride in the accomplishments of Mrs. Reinhart's class. The students, who include peers with hearing impairments, showcased their learning by performing the Pledge of Allegiance in American Sign Language, facilitated by interpreter Mrs. Blackford.

Mrs. Kieser introduced the students—Cyrus, Sawyer, Vera, Aurora, Tommy, Dasey, Ian, Ellie, Sloan, Cooper, Henry, Afia, Jackson, Kate, Tucker, Declan, and Everett—who were eager to share their performance with the board and community. The students' enthusiasm was palpable, as they cheered and celebrated their achievement before leading the audience in the Pledge.

Following the performance, parents were invited to take photos, capturing the moment of pride and joy. Mrs. Kieser acknowledged the parents' presence and encouraged them to stay for the remainder of the meeting, while also understanding their need to return home to their families.

The meeting transitioned smoothly into further discussions, with board members preparing to address curriculum proposals. The positive energy from the students' presentation set a collaborative tone for the evening, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and community engagement within the school district.
