Elizabeth Osborne hosts mental health awareness scavenger hunt at Casey Diver Park

The City of St. Marys is gearing up for a significant community event aimed at promoting mental health awareness. Elizabeth Osborne, representing New High State University and the Mental Health and Recovery Service Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties, announced a mental health awareness scavenger hunt scheduled for May 19 from 5 to 7 PM at Casey Diver Park.

This engaging event will feature various community agencies that provide mental health services, including counseling, case management, and wellness activities like yoga and massage. Participants will navigate the park, visiting different tables set up by these agencies, each offering a unique mental health activity. To encourage participation, attendees will receive a list of agencies to visit, and those who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a raffle for prizes, including Girl Scout cookies.

Osborne emphasized the event's inclusivity, inviting individuals of all ages to join in the fun while learning about available mental health resources. She also welcomed donations and ideas for additional prizes and activities, aiming to enhance the event's appeal.

City Council members expressed their support for the initiative, with discussions about potential contributions to the event, such as setting up tables for additional mental health awareness activities. While a rain date has not yet been established, Osborne is optimistic about the event's success and is coordinating similar activities in surrounding counties throughout May.
