The Janesville School District is actively engaging the community in shaping its future, as demonstrated during a recent Board of Education meeting. Nearly 70 community members and staff participated in a collaborative session focused on the district's mission, vision, and goals, as well as identifying areas for improvement.
During the meeting, participants were divided into 13 tables, fostering dynamic discussions that generated valuable insights into what stakeholders value most in their schools. The process involved brainstorming and sharing ideas, which were documented for further review by the board and various committees.
Looking ahead, the district plans to continue this engagement by hosting another meeting on October 23, where they will gather feedback from students across five middle and high schools. Up to 20 students from each school will be selected to provide their perspectives on the district's strengths and areas for growth. This feedback will be crucial in refining the district's strategic direction.
The district is committed to transparency and inclusivity, inviting community members to observe these meetings and participate in the ongoing dialogue. With additional sessions scheduled for November and December, the Janesville School District is poised to integrate community input into its planning, ensuring that the voices of students, parents, and staff are heard and valued in shaping the educational landscape.
