Pflugerville secures $438M to enhance water and wastewater infrastructure

Pflugerville residents will soon see significant improvements in their water and wastewater infrastructure following a recent government meeting where city officials highlighted key initiatives driven by community feedback. An impressive 92% of survey respondents identified water and wastewater management as the top priority for city investment, prompting immediate action from local leaders.

Construction crews are currently expanding the city’s water and wastewater plants to enhance capacity and service reliability. A critical raw water line to the Colorado River is also under development, ensuring a steady supply of this essential resource. Additionally, the Wise Pecan Waterline Project is scheduled to break ground in late spring 2025, further bolstering the city’s water system.

To maintain and upgrade existing infrastructure, crews are rehabilitating wastewater lines through a pipeline cleaning and televising contract, while aging water lines are being replaced to improve overall reliability. These efforts are supported by a substantial $438 million in WIFIA assistance, which will play a vital role in the city’s capital improvement program.

The recently completed five-year reclaimed water master plan will guide Pflugerville’s efforts to secure a resilient water supply for the future.
