Students advocate for bathroom improvements and security cameras at school meeting

Improvements to Peabody High School facilities and student safety were key topics at the Peabody Regular School Committee Meeting on March 11, 2025. The meeting highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the school environment, with students actively participating in discussions about their needs.

One significant update involved the high school bathrooms, where broken locks have been repaired, and cleaning protocols have been adjusted. However, concerns about unpleasant odors persist, particularly after lunch periods. Students noted that the small size of the bathrooms exacerbates the issue, with heavy usage leading to hygiene concerns. The facilities director confirmed that new cleaning products are being used and that air fresheners and mirror replacements are on the agenda to further improve conditions.

Another pressing issue discussed was the need for safety measures in the student parking lot. Students expressed concerns about reckless driving and requested the installation of security cameras to enhance safety.
