Midway School District hires 16 teachers ahead of next academic year

Midway ISD is celebrating a significant hiring success, thanks to proactive measures taken during the February board meeting. The district approved five new positions, four of which are dedicated to enhancing special education at the elementary level, while one focuses on a STEM teacher at Park Hill. This early approval allowed the district to post these positions immediately, resulting in four hires already secured for the upcoming school year.

In a shift from past practices, Midway ISD began posting job openings earlier this year, particularly in response to resignations at the secondary level. This change has proven effective, with eight positions filled before the spring break, a notable improvement compared to previous years. The district's hiring campaign has also been bolstered by new advertising strategies developed in collaboration with the communications department.

The new hires come from a diverse range of backgrounds, including current paraprofessionals who have obtained their certifications, interns graduating from local universities, and experienced educators moving from other districts.
