Delaware County Community College launches dual enrollment program for high school students

Delaware County Community College (DCCC) is set to enhance educational opportunities for local high school students through its dual enrollment program, which allows eligible students to earn college credits while still in high school. This initiative aims to provide a cost-effective pathway for students to advance their education and prepare for future academic pursuits.

During the recent Board Business Meeting, officials discussed the specifics of the dual enrollment program, highlighting that it is available to qualified high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students can take college courses at various DCCC locations, including online, provided they meet certain requirements such as passing a placement test or standardized test scores like the PSSA, SAT, or ACT.

However, it was noted that many students have struggled to qualify for dual enrollment in recent years. To address this, the district plans to utilize standardized test scores to better assess student eligibility. Additionally, the meeting revealed that the Williams Penn School District will cover tuition costs for participating students, making this program even more accessible.
