Dearborn Trail project secures funding and contractor for upcoming improvements

The Ossipee community is set to see significant improvements to the Dearborn Trail, thanks to the successful passage of a $25,000 funding initiative. During the recent Selectmen meeting, officials expressed gratitude to local businesses, individuals, and groups who contributed both time and resources, allowing the project to exceed its initial budget.

With funds secured entirely from local sources—without reliance on state or federal dollars—the project is now fully funded and ready to proceed. A deposit has been made to the contractor, and negotiations are underway for purchasing materials for the boardwalk, with careful attention to cost management in light of potential tariffs.

Construction is expected to begin in August, following a temporary closure of the trail after July 4. The community anticipates a celebratory dedication of the newly improved trail during the Fall Fest in October.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the legacy of a beloved community member, the late Paul family matriarch, who was honored for her contributions as the first woman selectman and a long-time treasurer. In her memory, donations have been requested for the Friends of Constitution Park, ensuring her impact on the community continues.

The Selectmen emphasized the invaluable time and effort invested by volunteers in enhancing Constitution Park, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in local projects. As Ossipee moves forward with the Dearborn Trail improvements, the collaboration and dedication of its residents remain a cornerstone of its success.
