Subscribe for Free Spring camp registration is now open, offering two weeks of activities for children at both the James O. Jesse Desert Highland Community Center and the Leisure Center. The commission also encouraged attendance at the grand opening of a new playground on April 10, featuring kid-friendly activities and refreshments.
On April 18, the Parks and Recreation Department will host an Easter celebration, including pictures with the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The meeting also noted the celebration of World Park Day on April 12, with various artist demonstrations and hands-on activities planned in downtown park from 10 AM to 2 PM.
A special Easter-themed Village Fest event will take place on April 17 from 6 PM to 10 PM, followed by a "Duck Dive" event at the swim center on April 19, where participants can collect rubber ducks for prizes and enjoy games. This event is free for all attendees.
Lastly, the commission introduced a new initiative for Arbor Day and Earth Day on April 26, partnering with the Department of Sustainability to plant ten trees at Victoria Park, starting at 8 AM. This event will include food vendors and activities focused on environmental stewardship.
