Braintree High School announces Wellness Week with health events and speaker series

The Braintree Public Schools School Committee convened on March 31, 2025, to discuss several key initiatives and updates impacting the district. The meeting began with a presentation on "Wellness Week" at Braintree High School, scheduled for April 14-17. This initiative aims to promote health and well-being among students, featuring activities such as a wellness walk, a health fair, and a speaker series. Notably, Kathy Sullivan, who shares her personal story about the dangers of alcohol, will speak on April 16, followed by a nutrition-focused session led by the school's food services staff on April 17.

The committee also highlighted recent events, including the "Bridal for Life" program held on March 18, which engages seniors in real-life financial decision-making scenarios. This event received support from local businesses and community members, contributing to a valuable learning experience for students.

In the financial segment, the committee reviewed gifts to schools, totaling over $30,000 from various sources, including a ski trip for East Middle School and a fundraiser from the Chateau restaurant benefiting Hollis Elementary School. The committee unanimously approved the acceptance of these gifts.

Superintendent updates included the initiation of a search for two new elementary principals, one for Hollis and one for Liberty. The search process is underway, with candidates already applying, and the committee anticipates having new principals in place by mid-May.
