Oklahoma House passes resolution for Child Abuse Prevention Month

During the House of Representatives meeting on April 1, 2025, a significant focus was placed on child welfare as lawmakers recognized April as National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Representative Roe introduced House Resolution 1011, highlighting the alarming statistic of 13,500 substantiated cases of child abuse and neglect in Oklahoma during the previous fiscal year.

"This month is recognized so that we can bring awareness and focus on prevention efforts to keep the kids in our state safe," Roe stated, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in addressing this critical issue. In addition to the resolution, the meeting featured various introductions, including a warm welcome to the Grove Area Chamber president, Amanda Davis, and members of the Grand Lake legislative committee, who were present to represent local businesses. Leader Pifer also acknowledged the presence of the Logan County Farm Bureaus, underscoring the diverse interests represented in the legislature.
