Butler County Commissioners approve $1M for Jobs and Development Bond Fund

In a pivotal move for Butler County, the Board of Commissioners approved a significant $1 million contribution to the Butler County Finance Authority's Jobs and Development Bond Fund during their regular meeting on April 1, 2025. This decision aims to bolster economic development initiatives in the region, consolidating previous annual contributions into a single payment to enhance funding for job creation and infrastructure projects.

The funding will elevate the bond fund to a total of $3.5 million, supported by additional commitments from local entities, including $1 million from the Community Foundation of Hamilton and $500,000 from the City of Middletown. Joshua Smith, president and CEO of the Butler County Finance Authority, expressed gratitude for the commissioners' support, highlighting the fund's potential to stimulate local job growth and development over the next five years.

In addition to the bond fund discussion, the meeting addressed various budget transfers and appropriations, including a $275,000 transfer to the Board of Elections for a new voter registration system and salary adjustments for the prosecutor's office. The commissioners also approved several resolutions related to departmental requests, including the promotion of staff within Children's Services and the procurement of new vehicles.
