Granite School District honors 2024 Excel Award winners at recognition ceremony

The Granite School District celebrated its outstanding educators during the April 1, 2025 Board of Education meeting, honoring the 2025 Excel Award winners. This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional contributions of nine teachers and one administrator, showcasing the district's commitment to educational excellence.

The ceremony kicked off with heartfelt introductions, as the winners were called to the stage. Among the honorees were Anna Alamo from Cottonwood Elementary, Megan Allen from Kearns High School, and Jennifer Christiansen from Olympus High, who took home the administrative award. Other recipients included Shantel Escivius, Jennifer Johnson, Anna Kendall, Stephanie Nykamp, Ray Patterson, Shelly Rush, and Carolyn Wetzel, each representing various schools within the district.

The Excel Award process is rigorous, involving nominations from students, peers, and community members, followed by a detailed application and observation round for the finalists. This year’s winners exemplify the dedication and innovation that Granite educators bring to their classrooms.

As the meeting continued, Ray Patterson, an EE teacher at Kearns Junior High, was highlighted for her exceptional impact on students. The recognition of these educators not only celebrates their achievements but also emphasizes the importance of community involvement in education.
