She shared the success of various initiatives, including a stuffed animal drive for Child Abuse Awareness Month and children's programming that fosters emotional expression through art.
Next Step Ministries reported serving a total of 321 clients in 2024, with 111 being residents of Kernersville. The organization also noted a high success rate in follow-up surveys, with 93% of individuals reporting safe housing after receiving services. Volunteer contributions were significant, totaling 9,265 hours of service.
Looking ahead, Hicks outlined future initiatives, including the development of a resource center to facilitate e-filing for protective orders and enhance community outreach through mobile advocacy. The organization also plans to expand its Spanish programming and improve its thrift store to better serve the community.
