City Council approves Kwik Trip convenience store and development agreements

Cottage Grove City Council has officially approved the development of a new Kwik Trip convenience store, marking a significant step forward for the community. During the April 2, 2025 meeting, council members unanimously adopted three key resolutions related to the project, which will be located at 90 Fifth Street South.

Council Member Thidi initiated the motion to approve the conditional use permit, which was seconded by Council Member Claussen. The motion passed with a resounding "aye" from the council. Following this, Council Member Garza moved to adopt a resolution for a site plan review and variance for the parking area, also receiving unanimous support. Finally, Council Member Claussen proposed the approval of the development agreement with Kwik Trip, which was similarly approved without opposition.

Lisa Watson from Kwik Trip addressed the council, noting that while a specific timeline for the project is still pending, updates will be provided as soon as they are available. The council expressed eagerness to share this information with the public, highlighting the community's interest in the new store.

As the meeting progressed, council members also discussed upcoming events, ensuring that residents remain informed about local happenings. The approval of the Kwik Trip project is expected to enhance convenience for residents and stimulate local economic growth.
