Marlboro expands waste management services with new bulk item pickup policy

The Sustainability Council Committee of Santa Barbara convened on April 3, 2025, to discuss various initiatives aimed at enhancing waste management services for the community. Previously limited to utility bill holders, this service will now allow residents in apartment buildings and those facing challenges in disposing of large items to request pickups four times a year. This change aims to reduce illegal dumping in neighborhoods and improve overall community cleanliness.

The committee also introduced a rebranding of their waste management services, now referred to as "Clean Community Programs." This new name reflects the city's focus on enhancing community engagement and expanding services to meet the needs of residents. Members expressed enthusiasm for the new textile recycling initiative, which aims to provide a sustainable solution for disposing of textiles that cannot be reused or donated.
