Tooele City Council has approved a significant upgrade to the Pratt Aquatic Center, which will enhance recreational facilities for residents. During the meeting on April 2, 2025, the council unanimously voted to approve a contract worth $301,008.68 with Play Space Designs for the installation of new play equipment and maintenance services for the pool's plaster.
The upgrade will replace the long-defunct candy cane water feature, which has been out of service due to corrosion. The new installation will include interactive water features designed to engage children and families, ensuring a more enjoyable experience at the center. The work is scheduled to take place during the facility's annual shutdown in August, with plans to minimize disruption by keeping the lap pool open for swimming and aerobics.

The council also authorized an agreement with Tooele County for municipal elections, which will see an increase in costs from $2 to $2.25 per ballot due to rising operational expenses. This agreement is crucial as it allows the county to manage election logistics, including ballot printing and tabulation, which the city lacks the resources to handle independently.
Overall, the decisions made during this meeting reflect the council's commitment to enhancing community facilities and ensuring efficient governance in upcoming elections. The upgrades at the Pratt Aquatic Center are expected to provide long-term benefits for residents, while the surplus property disposal and election agreements demonstrate prudent management of city resources.
