Valhalla Golf Course shifts funding strategy to prioritize green fees and infrastructure upgrades

Cumberland Town Council is taking significant steps to enhance the Valhalla Golf Course's infrastructure and financial sustainability. During the recent budget workshop held on March 31, 2025, council members discussed the allocation of funds aimed at upgrading essential equipment and facilities at the course.

A key decision made during the meeting was to reduce the budget for events at Valhalla, as revenues from green fees and cart fees have shown a promising increase. This strategic shift allows the council to focus on reinvesting in the golf course, ensuring that funds are available for necessary upgrades, including the ongoing replacement of the HVAC system. Currently, two of the seven HVAC units have been upgraded, with plans to address the remaining four in the near future.

The council emphasized the importance of maintaining the golf course's infrastructure, which has been generating revenue since the pandemic. By reallocating some of the profits from Valhalla back into the facility, the council aims to improve the overall experience for visitors while ensuring the course remains financially viable.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the staffing structure at Valhalla, confirming that the team is adequately supported to manage cash operations effectively.
