Mount Pisgah Church begins historic designation process for 14000 Preston Road

Dallas officials are moving forward with the historic designation process for the Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church located at 14000 Preston Road. During a recent government meeting, the public hearing was deemed non-contentious, with all parties expressing satisfaction with the decision.

In addition to the church's designation, the meeting included a courtesy review for a proposed new construction project at 4315 Junior Street in the Peak Suburban Addition neighborhood. The plan involves building a two-story single-family home on a vacant lot that has remained undeveloped since the 1970s. Staff recommendations indicated that the project should receive conceptual approval, pending further design details to be submitted for review by the Landmark Commission.

Feedback from the task force highlighted several design considerations, including adjustments to the rear roofline to minimize visibility from the front and suggestions for window and chimney design to ensure aesthetic coherence with the neighborhood.

Community member Aaron Shrikartan, who spoke during the meeting, emphasized the importance of the new construction project, noting its potential to revitalize the long-vacant lot. The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism about the developments, signaling a commitment to preserving the area's historical significance while accommodating new growth.
