City Council unanimously passes multiple ordinances including water plant repairs and veterans memorial

The Lima City Council made significant strides during its regular meeting on April 7, 2025, passing multiple ordinances aimed at enhancing city services and honoring local veterans.

Among the key decisions was the unanimous passage of Ordinance 85-25, which authorizes the mayor to contract with Schimler Construction Inc. for the construction of the Lima Veterans Memorial Grove. Councilor Wilkerson expressed heartfelt gratitude for the tribute to veterans, emphasizing the importance of honoring their service. "I don't want to pass up the opportunity to be grateful about being honored and a tribute being made for veterans," he stated, highlighting the community's commitment to recognizing those who have served.

In addition to the veterans' memorial, the council also approved several other ordinances on their first readings, all by an 8-0 vote. These included Ordinance 81-25 for emergency repairs at the water treatment plant, and Ordinance 82-25, which authorizes a lease for a folder insert machine for the utilities department. Ordinance 83-25, allowing for the lease of a printer for the same department, was also passed, showcasing the council's focus on improving municipal operations.

Furthermore, the council adopted an amended citizen participation plan through Ordinance 84-25, reinforcing its commitment to community engagement in local governance.
