Pitt County Schools recognize state winners in CTE, FBLA, and Battle of the Books

Pitt County Schools celebrated remarkable achievements in career and technical education during its board meeting on April 7, 2025. The spotlight shone brightly on students from J.H. Rose and DH Conley, who excelled in state competitions for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).

Callie Beach, the director of career and technical education, opened the session by recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of local students. J.H. Rose FBLA advisor Kirk Gardner announced that the chapter had 82 top finalists at the state competition, with several students earning first-place honors. Notably, Bailey Shrimp triumphed in Human Resource Management, while Zofia Silver and Anna Kate Nisbett excelled in LifeSmarts at the national level. For the seventh consecutive year, J.H. Rose was awarded the prestigious Helen Reagan chapter of the year.

The board expressed pride in these achievements, with members congratulating the students and their advisors. Additionally, Scott Haddock from DH Conley was honored as the 2024-2025 state FBLA advisor of the year, further highlighting the strength of the district's career programs.

The meeting also featured recognition of the Battle of the Books teams, with Wintergreen Intermediate, Chocowinity Middle, and Innovation Early College High School taking home first-place honors. The excitement was palpable as the teams prepared for upcoming state competitions, showcasing the dedication and teamwork of the students involved.

As Pitt County Schools continues to foster leadership and real-world skills through its programs, the board meeting underscored the importance of these initiatives in shaping the future of its students.
