New London honors police and fire department service milestones and promotions

City officials celebrated significant milestones in public service during the recent New London City Council meeting, highlighting the dedication of local police and fire department personnel.

Detective Santiago marked his five-year anniversary, while Sergeant Ashley James and Officer Jordan Salas both celebrated a decade of service. The meeting also recognized Lieutenant Cornelius Rogers for 22 years, Lieutenant Josh Bergerson for 18 years, and Sergeant Dustin Atkins for 18 years, among others. This acknowledgment of long-serving officers underscores the commitment of the New London police force to the community.

In a related highlight, the fire department held a ceremony at the STEM High School Auditorium, where Fire Inspector David Heine was promoted to fire marshal. Additionally, three firefighters—Diego Barbosa, Brian Da Silva, and Evan Giesing—were elevated to the rank of lieutenant.

These celebrations not only honor individual achievements but also reflect the strong foundation of public safety in New London, showcasing the dedication of those who serve the community.
