The Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) Board recently celebrated the dedication and achievements of its educators during a meeting held on April 9, 2025. A highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding teachers, culminating in the announcement of the finalists for the MDUSD Teacher of the Year award.
This year, over 200 teachers were nominated for this prestigious honor, showcasing the district's commitment to educational excellence. After a thorough selection process, eight exemplary candidates were chosen for interviews by the Teacher of the Year selection committee. These finalists were praised for their creativity, dedication, and the high standards they uphold in their teaching practices.

With 18 years of teaching experience, including 15 years in Georgia, Box has made significant contributions to her school and the district. She teaches algebra and trigonometry and has played a pivotal role in founding the school's first math team, which has competed at UC Berkeley. Additionally, she serves as an IB coordinator, technology integration leader, and math department chair, while also mentoring student teachers.
The board's recognition of Box and her fellow educators underscores the district's commitment to fostering a collaborative environment where teachers share best practices and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. This celebration not only honors individual achievements but also highlights the collective effort of educators to enhance the educational experience for all students in the MDUSD community.
