The Troy City Council convened on April 8, 2025, to discuss various updates regarding the Park Board, with a significant focus on the impact of recent weather conditions on local golf facilities.
The meeting began with an update from the golf course management, highlighting the extensive flooding that occurred over the weekend. The course was closed starting Saturday morning due to heavy rainfall, which resulted in substantial standing water across the property. As of Monday morning, access was restored as water levels receded, but the golf course remains largely unplayable.

The back nine is in worse condition, with only holes 10 and 18 remaining free of water. Management indicated that the front nine might reopen before the back nine, but this is contingent on the water table decreasing, which is currently hindered by cold temperatures and overnight freezes.
Management noted that the situation is unprecedented in their experience, recalling a similar incident in February 2019 that resulted in a temporary closure of the back nine for a few days. They emphasized the difficulty in predicting a timeline for reopening, as conditions are changing daily.
Despite the golf course closure, the facility is still operational with simulators and the driving range available for use. Staff members are actively working to maintain operations as much as possible during this challenging period.
The meeting concluded with no additional reports from the planning commission, and the council moved on to new business discussions. The council remains focused on monitoring the situation and providing updates to the community as conditions evolve.
