Amy Jones reports on successful April tax sale with $445K revenue

Vigo County's recent tax sale generated significant interest and revenue, as reported during the council meeting on April 8, 2025. Amy Jones, the deputy auditor and tax sale supervisor, provided an overview of the event, which took place on April 1.

In total, 646 parcels were listed for sale, with 631 offered to bidders. A notable 376 parcels were sold, while the remaining 255 will be included in a future tax sale scheduled for September 16-18. The minimum bid for each parcel was set at $250, and all 97 registered bidders successfully completed their payments by the following day, resulting in a total collection of $445,400.

This successful sale highlights the county's ongoing efforts to manage tax delinquency and generate revenue. The upcoming sale in September is anticipated to attract further interest, as the council continues to address property tax issues in the community.
