Adrian Hernandez, the executive director of Keep Pearland Beautiful and chair of the Texas Alliance for Recycling, addressed the council, elaborating on the economic impact of recycling in Texas. He stated that the recycling sector supports over 25,000 jobs and generates more than $5 billion in economic activity. Furthermore, the processing of recycled materials contributes an additional $3 to $4 billion and creates approximately 10,000 more jobs.

Hernandez also discussed the partnership between Keep Pearland Beautiful and the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, which provides essential recycling services to Manvel residents at no cost. He announced that the week following Texas Recycles Day would feature Pearland Recycles Week, during which hard-to-recycle items like mattresses and tires would be accepted. The center also offers year-round collection of household hazardous waste and standard recyclable materials.
